What tool should I use with the Acrylic Repair and Restoration Kit? Please review our Tools section for a more comprehensive answer as to what tool you should use. Will this product work on my boat? Plastek products work on all types of Acrylic. We are currently in the process of designing a kit to specifically address the needs of the marine industry. Please contact a Plastek representative for further information. Will EZClear work on my eyeglasses? No. The abrasives in EZClear will alter the original prescription in your eyeglasses. However, our Master Clear Cleaning spray can be used to clean eyeglasses and will leave a fine UV coating to help reduce glare. Will EZClear products work with orbital sanders? The EZClear repair system will not work with orbital sanders. Orbital sanders overload too quickly and do not yield enough power for our system. Instead, we use electric polishers at 1000 RPM. What is the importance of visually inspecting your work as you go through the repair process? As you inspect your work throughout the process, you will be able to identify any problem areas that still exist. We recommend cleeaning the window with Prep Spray in between steps to correctly ascertain the state of the window before proceeding to the next step. Can I repair only a small section of the window? The abrasives in the polishes remove surface area. Concentrating on a single spot for a prolonged period of time will cause distortion. It is important to polish the entire window for uniform results. Back to top Will EZClear generate significant heat build up? Minimal amounts of heat will be produced during the process. This heat, will in turn level off imperfections in the window increasing the clarity and consistency of the window. It is important to keep polish on the window throughout the repair process and keep the polisher moving. Do not allow the polisher to stop in one place or the heat generated could damage the transparency. Does EZClear work with NVG? We recently completed NVG testing at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland. The test results revealed EZClear to repair a window to within .33% of its original clarity. Is EZClear hazardous? We take great pride in presenting EZClear as an Environmentally Friendly product; we took special care to develop EZClear in a food grade laboratory and ensure that no special means of disposal are required. What must I do to generate the best results? 1.) Shake all the polishes well prior to your first use and throughout the EZClear polishes. Shaking polishes will distribute the abrasives equally within the compounds. 2.) Ensure you are using the correct tool. The Acrylic Repair & Restoration Kit requires that you use a variable speed polisher (see our Tools section) at 1000RPM. Orbital sanders will not work with EZClear products as they become overloaded too easily. 3.) Repair the entire window thoroughly and not just one section to avoid distortion. If you go over the entire window with EZClear, you will not get distortion. Will EZClear cause stress crazing? Stress crazing is internal cracking within a window. It appears as if the window is scratched, however no scratches can be felt because they are internal within the window. Some chemicals can cause stress crazing. EZClear polishes will not cause Stress Crazing. Testing was performed at the U.S. Army’s laboratory in Aberdeen Maryland. EZClear will not deteriorate or cause irreparable damage to the acrylic material.
